Wildflower walk through Nan Weston Preserve

Join the Tuesday morning group for a wildflower walk through the Nan Weston Preserve.

The tour will be led by Joann Ballbach.

Last year, we visited Nan Weston at the peak of late spring wildflowers. It was beautiful, but we missed some of the earlier blooms. This year, we'll hope to catch them--hepatica, trout lily, cut-leaf toothwart, Dutchman's britches, squirrel corn, marsh marigold, and others. Perhaps even the much-overlooked Draba (check out Aldo Leopold's A Sand County Almanac if you're curious)!

As usual, I find folklore of wildflowers interesting. Whether it's true or not, it gives insight into the plants as well as the people who used them. Be prepared for stories and mud!

Meet at the Preserve parking lot.  The preserve is west of Manchester in Washtenaw county.  It is on Easudes Road 0.9 miles from Sharon Hollow Road. A small parking lot is available at the trail-head on the south side of the road.

NOTE:  Tour will start at 10 AM
