The Fest is an educational event of the fairly newly formed Mackinac Straits Raptor Watch (MSRW). The Fest highlights the raptor research and educational work of the MSRW at the Straits of Mackinac, which, as you know, marks the confluence of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. The birds could care less about the fudge, but they do appreciate a shorter route across large bodies of water! This, as our data has been showing, makes the Straits a significant/global migration route for raptors and other birds. Here is a link to our data (fall and spring):.
We hold the Fest during the first weekend in April during the height of Bald and Golden Eagle migration. Registration is now open for the 2020 Fest at the Raptor Fest Website http://mackinawraptorfest.org
