JAS maintains two sanctuaries in Jackson County.

The Phyllis Haehnle Sanctuary is the largest Audubon sanctuary in MI and can have autumn crane counts in the thousands.

The Kate Palmer Sanctuary is a 53 acre site which contains various habitats and has a rich diversity of wildflowers and other plant life.
