The Audubon Society of Jackson County, Michigan
Join the Tuesday Morning Group for a hike along the "Hoffman Trail", a wonderful woodland habitat between Moeckel and Reithmiller Roads
The “Hoffman Trail,” is the unofficial name for the flat nature trail with the west end at Moeckel Road and the east end at the drainage of the Reithmiller wetland in the Waterloo Recreation Area. Six of the seven woodpeckers native to Michigan nest along this wooded trail, which looks like much like a pre-settlement landscape.
If we get all the way through we will end at the entrance to the Reithmiller wetland, so bring your wet boots it you want to go in that area.
Meet at the west trailhead at 9 AM. From Jackson, take I-94 east to Mt. Hope Road, north on Mt. Hope 4.7 miles to Hoffman Road, east on Hoffman a quarter mile to Moeckel Road, and north on Moeckel 700 feet to the trail (42.359759, -84.204271). Hoffman and Moeckel are gravel roads.
